Medical technology
Introduction:
from an ordinary X-ray diagnosis to tomography,X-ray has been used as an important means of modern medicine detection. in medical industry X-ray is produced by way of electronic bremsstrahlung generally. When high-speed electrons hit a tungsten target, less than 1% of the electron kinetic energy is converted to X-rays, all the remaining energy is converted to the anode heat. Therefore, the applied materials should have a high melting point, excellent cooling capacity ,thermal conductivity and minimum vapor pressure.under the considerations for rotating anode target for the demanding requirements of the material , BTM Group has developed a new type of TZM molybdenum alloy and tungsten heavy alloy, whch shows high-temperature properties of molybdenum alloys in order to obtain better product quality and product life.
Tungsten heavy alloy is used as collimator or radiation shielding in the following applications:
Nuclear medicine: PET Systems and radiotherapy
- PET dispensing system
- PET syringe shields
- PET/CT/PET-CT Collimator
- PET vial shielding container
- FDG transport container
- Primary & secondary collimator
- Muti-leaf collimator
Borehole logging in the oil and gas industries:
Data from gammy ray source radiation through the rock strata are collected and then analyzed to determine whether deposits of gas or oil are present.
Pipe-line inspection:
Radiation to inspect welds and to detect cracks in pipelines.
Industrial radiography:
gamma radiation to detect structural faults in materials such as metal and concrete.
Homeland security and border control:
scanners that use gamma radiation to detect objects in cargo containers or airline luggage.
BTM Group offers high precision tungsten heavy alloy components according to customer's drawings and specifications.
