Electrode for TIG Welding
Characteristics of TIGTIG welding has the following characteristics compared to manual arc welding:
1:argon is an inert gas, it dose not decompose at high temperature and not react with welded metal. So it is a high quality welding method.
2:argon is monatomic gases with poor conductivity, so the arc heat concentration, high temperature and arc stability is excellent, even at low current the arc can still be kept combustion.
3:because of the welding heat concentration, argon gas from the nozzle has a cooling effect, so the weld beam is narrow and deformation of work piece is small
4:no slag with argon gas protection and improve the efficiency, and weld appearance is beautiful and quality is excellent.
5:it’s very easy to observe ,operate and master the technology. Welding can be performed in a variety of position.
6:it can be used for welding stainless steel, aluminum, sopper and other nonferrous metal and steel in addition to black metal.
How to workTIG is a welding with protection inert gas like argon. Argon emitted from the nozzle in the welding formed a thick layer of dense gas to cut off the air, the arc between the tungsten electrode and work piece is burning, which is surrounded by the argon gas flow. Work piece is melted under the arc heat together either with or without filler material. So two separate metals are connected, resulting in strong welded joints.
Classification of TIGTIG welding can be divided into manual TIG welding and mechanized welding according to operating methods. If linear weld seam or regular curvilinear seam, mechanized welding can be made. But if irregular or short welding seam, manual TIG can be performed. Currently manual TIG is used more. DC TIG welding is usually divided into two types: 1, DC reverse polarity
2, DC positive polarity
TIG VariablesThere are several variables to consider in a TIG welding procedure. Tungsten electrode geometry affects the arc shape (thereby affecting the weld bead size and shape), theweld penetration, and point longevity of the electrode. Proper electrode grinding procedures and equipment should be used in order to ensure that electrodes are dimensionally correct. Finally, different tungsten materials posses different characteristics in arc start ability, electrode life, and contamination resistance. This makes the selection of the proper material for your application an important variable in welding performance. The proper preparation of electrodes in each of these areas will provide the benefits of consistent welding with optimum performance
